Bortelid

Project overview

We developed the new Bortelid website together with WHY Connect. Bortelid is a mountain destination in Åseral, in the south of Norway — a ski centre in winter, and hiking, fishing and paddling country the rest of the year. Because the place changes character with the seasons, so does the site.

Scope of work

Here's what we focused on throughout the project:

• Webflow development
  Built the full site, including separate summer and winter homepages, on a component system the Bortelid team can use to create new pages themselves.
• Seasonal themes
  Developed winter, spring/autumn and summer colour themes that can be applied per page and per article, with a season switch on the homepage.
• Live weather
  Added a weather display to the navigation, updated hourly from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute without slowing down the page.
• Bilingual site
  Set up Norwegian and English versions so international visitors can plan their stay too.
• CMS & forms
  Structured collections for events, activities and articles, plus the ski school booking form and newsletter signup.

The result is a site that feels as relaxed as the mountain itself — and changes with it, season by season.
